This specimen is composed of teeth still inserted in the jaw with dentin and intact roots, comes from the Brule Formation in South Dakota, about 32-34 million years old. Oreodonts are extinct mammals more closely related to camels and pigs, although they do not have close relatives living today. They were omnivorous animals with short faces and tusked fangs.
