Specimen of botryoidal goethite from the historic Miniera del Cavo, on the Island of Elba. What makes this specimen immediately striking is its extraordinary colouration: a vivid interplay of brick red, ferruginous orange and bright ochre yellow, distributed across the entire surface in an irregular, wholly natural pattern.

The morphology is flat and lamellar, with a main face rich in small botryoidal nodules and microgranular zones that give the surface an almost velvety texture. The back and edges reveal the original dark grey matrix, which by contrast further enhances the chromatic richness of the front face.

A specimen of strong visual and chromatic impact, rare for the intensity of its colours. Equally suited to a systematic collection of Italian iron hydroxides or to decorative display as a standalone piece. Documented provenance.
