In this book there are about 650 ammonites, many of which have been the subject of scientific publications, which have made the Bosso River Valley and the mountains of the Umbrian / Marche Apennines known and made famous throughout the world. The oldest ones are from the lower Sinemurian age (200 million years); others follow from the middle and upper Sinemurian (Lotaringiano) and the lower Pliensbachiano (Carixiano) which allowed us to establish a Mediterranean Zonation. Then come the ammonites of the upper Pliensbachiano (Domeriano) with the detail of the evolution of the Protogrammoceratinae. With the ammonites found in the member "I Lecceti" we were able to develop new hypotheses for the definition of the Domeriano / Toarciano passage. The latter are very rare and present only in a few outcrops. It is for this reason that an "Ammonite Path" has been created which allows you to easily reach the sections of the Bosso River Valley where Rosso Ammonitico also emerges and where many ammonites come from appearing in the book.
